This is the 1st year DD has come here for the 2nd weekend. He has usually come to the 1st weekend where that is not as much of a crowd downtown. So this year he really wanted to come on the 2nd weekend. So the Z Krewe Zestival tickets we got this year was for a party that went longer that the 1st weekend. It goes from noon to midnight which also includes lunch and dinner. So we got there at noon and had lunch which was hot dogs, hamburger, salad and desert (brownies, cupcakes and cookies). I got a hot dog. We then watched the Z Krewe parade processional. We then started throwing our ok beads. I has a whole bag of them that I have collected over the years and finally decided to get rid of them. A nice crowd wanting to catch them.
DD continued to throw beads and Jennifer and I wanted to walk around downstairs for a bit. Since the theme this year was pirates there were some people dressed as a pirate.
Yarr!
We then brought out our special beats. We were bad. DD and I got a lot of cute girls to flash. This is the crowd we had to work with in the evening.
Now that is a crowd!
We also got to see the Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade from the balcony. I always wanted to see a Mardi Gras parade from the balcony. Now I finally got to. Here are some pictures of the parade.
It was a lot of fun.
