DD at the College

DD came to work with me and sat in my Music Appreciation and History of Rock class. It was great having DD in the Rock class. It was like having a guest lecturer and the students really liked him. We then ate at Salsas. Then back to the college for my steel drum rehearsal. We then went to Little Caesar's and got pizza and went to home to watch a DVD of Oceans 13 which DD had not seen before. A pretty fun day.

Mardi Gras Parades

There were 2 Mardi Gras Parades today. The 1st was the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius 21st Annual Mardi Gras Kick-off Parade at 12:00 noon. This will be my 4th year that I have seen this parade. It is still a unique sight watching a Mardi Gras parade with all the decorated floats and people throwing beads with the ocean in the background. I invited my friend George to join Jennifer and I in parade watching.

The next parade was Krewe of Gambrinus "Beads and Make Believe" Parade at 6:00pm which included a nice fireworks display over the water.

1st Weekend of Mardi Gras

Today begins the 1st weekend of Mardi Gras on the island. To celebrate it Jennifer and I went to the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius's Barn Bash. An OK buffet of fajitas with a lot of stuff to put in the tortillas. There was also free beer and wine. There was a pretty good band that played covers. Jennifer and I did some dancing. He is a really good dancer. This it also the place where the Kwere stores their floats. So the Krewe stood in the floats throwing beads to the guest of the party. It was quite crowded and though I probably would not go again, it was a really cool experience and I did have a lot of fun.
