New Weblog

After issues with Image::Magick not posting pictures and the template errors after the update of MovableType I have decided to use Wordpress for my weblog. It works really well and I can updated it from my phone. I imported all of the entrees from here to there successfully.

So the new weblog is here.

The Birthday of My Blog

I started this web log 5 years ago as a way to force myself to see something new when I lived in Marin County.
1st Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

By the 2nd years web log birthday, I moved to another state, became a professor at a college teaching music and made some new friends.
2nd Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

By the 3rd years web log I met Jennifer. A sweet, caring, cool, intelligent, calming and very pretty girlfriend who really compliments my personality and makes dating easy and so much fun.
3rd Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

By the 4th years weblog, I began composing compositions again. I had written a string orchestra piece, reorchestrating my older compositions and composing new pieces for the steel band.
4th Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

By the 5th years web log, I had build the music program the largest that is as probably ever been and it was the largest the steel drum had ever been.
5th Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

By the 6th years web log, everything started falling apart. I was still with my very pretty perfect girl, still a college professor, music department chair and choir director. I had a piece being performed by a professional music ensemble at a new music festival. It was also the 1st time I have ever experienced a hurricane and the after effects of a city after it hit.
Last Years Web Log's Birthday Entry

This year everything has gone to hell. I lost my college gig because of budget cuts or the hurricane and a really stupid president that did not listen to anyone and had no forward incite. He got rid of over 10% of the faculty at the college. The funniest thing is that the neighboring college has record enrollment. They have no more rooms left for the classes they are offering. You know why? Because students were pissed and left the college. No vision.

To add to the hell year mom's mom, Nana, the one I could call me 2nd mom passed away. So I am basically in the same position I was when I started this blog. No gig and few friends in the area (many left after the hurricane). The only difference is that San Fransisco was really pretty and I could pick any direction to go and see something new. This time I am in Texas and you can drive anywhere and still not see nothing new.

I am still with my very pretty perfect girl and have been both going through our own personal hell and doing our best to keep ourselves sane.

I am hoping that this year a new and exciting adventure awaits.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WEB LOG!!!!!!

Newspapers of the World

Thought this was cool. You can check newspaper headlines anywhere in the world!
Just put your mouse on a city anywhere in the world and the newspaper headlines pop up.
Double click and the page gets larger.

Also, if you look at the European papers, the far left side of Germany will
pop up as The Stars & Stripes (European edition, of course). and, this
site changes everyday with the publication of new editions of the paper. Enjoy.

It was also the 1st time I have ever experienced a hurricane and the after effects of a city after it hit. It has been a reawakening of what is really important and what really is not anymore. Off to compose and express what I truly believe in.

1st Day Back on the Island

Well I am back on the island and got to play with Mercury (my computer) for the 1st time in 22 days. It is hard to imagine how much water really got on the island. Even though it was only a high category 2 (it was 110mph winds. A category 3 has 115mph winds and up), because of the large size of the hurricane the storm surge was like a category 4. It went up 19 feet. To see what that might be like go to this link. There is a reason I left. I still do not understand the 40% of the people who live on the island stayed.

Click on a number then click play.

Since I like food and food like me I wanted to show some unusual restaurants I have found online.

How about eating in the sky in Belgium.

This next place in Kirkland, Washington describe themselves as an upscale voluntary payment cafe/deli.
Terra Bite

An interesting sushi place in Hollywood, California where nyotaimori or body sushi take place. It is eating sushi from the body of a woman though the food never touches the models skin but is presented on banana leaves.
Hadaka Sushi

Moto in Chicago is were it is known for creating "high-tech" dishes which incorporate elements such as edible paper, lasers and liquid nitrogen.

And we end with an undersea restaurant. Ithaa

I am hungry! Time to eat!

Happy Birthday Web Log

Today is the 1st birthday of my web log. A year ago today I put my 1st entry into this web log. The web log originally began as a way to force myself to see something new when I lived in Marin County. It was a very lonely time for me since all of my friends and family were in So Cal. So to motivate myself to see new things, I created a web log. This way I was forced to write something new at least once a week. So in order to write something new I had to see something new. It worked and I saw a lot of San Francisco and the bay area by the time I moved here to Galveston.

A year later I have a good gig doing what I love, music. I have friends to have lunch with, see places with and go to concerts with. It definitely has been an eventful year.

Here is my 1st web log entry.

On a Rant

I usually do not get into politics since they generally hurt me rather than help me but since someone thought it was better to help another country than helping ourselves it has hurt me and people I know personally. I am not talking about the solders in the war, I am talking about the money. What people do not realize is that helping them hurts us. The government is saying they do not have enough money and will have to cut stuff. Well the 1st thing they cut is education. Now I hear people say "kids these days are not that smart." Hum I wonder why? Cutting education also cuts teachers. I know people trying to get a gig in education and can not because of the lack of openings. There is a lack of openings because there is not enough money to hire more teachers but we seem to have a lot of money to throw over seas.

Click on the link below to a web site to see how much money we could have used for education instead of sticking our nose into other people's business. Now the argument is that they needed our help. Well THE UNITED STATES NEEDS HELP! I think we should help ourselves before deciding to help other countries.
